Christmas Decorations & a lot more besides.by Webmaster - 20:14 on 14 December 2006We were very lucky that Christine Hewson stood in at the last minute for Hannah Deane who was unable to present as planned.
Christine is a NAFAS demonstrator and in a very short time indeed she showed us how to make the most delightful Christmas wreaths as well as a number of other Christmas decorations. Above all though it must be said that Christine is a very good presenter - it's not easy to keep the banter going all the while you are trying to concentrate on making a display but she certainly did and to a great round of applause for doing so.
That was not all however. Before Christine's demonstration we were all treated to mince pies and wine. A really big thank you to all those who kindly brought in the mince pies - it really was very generous. We had a number of raffle prizes anyway and had already sold a record number of raffle tickets but when it became clear that the decorations made by Christine were to be raffled as well, we sold even more tickets. Overall the raffle made a record £56 for club funds.
But, that was not all! Jane had prepared an excellent Christmas quiz which really did keep us all amused. The winners were Chris Halford and Carol and Sue Cunningham. But they were only one point ahead of me and maybe one or two others however when I checked my sheet, which Chris had marked, would you believe he had miscounted and I had one more point. Enough to equal his score. Still, I won't tell anyone.
Overall a really good evening and again thank you to everyone who made it possible.
